Washington is a lot like Canberra – a government town that is quiet outside of business hours. During business hours there are museums everywhere. I saw a few of them, but there wasn’t enough time to see all of them.
The International Spy Museum is basically an excuse to show off James Bond memorabilia. They also have exhibits on espionage in the cold war as well as some other trinkets.
Along the National Mall, one of the Smithsonian museums is the Air and Space Museum. The museum has everything from the plane the Wright Brother’s first flew through to replicas of the stuff NASA has sent to Mars.
They also have some of the Russian stuff that never quite made it to the moon. Above is the computer they would have taken to the moon if they could find a way to get there. It kind of reminds me of my mobile phone…
They also have a statue of Neil Armstrong and the other astronauts planting the U.S flag on the moon.
