I haven’t had a chance to gloat to anyone about the Hawks pulling off a 3-peat this year, until I met this guy in old Havana.
Sport is big in Cuba, but they aren’t very good at it. Most kids play soccer, but the national team is only there for the numbers. Judo and boxing are big but baseball is king amongst all of the sports here. I didn’t see many people playing while I was here and the season had finished so I couldn’t catch a game. I did see a junior team practicing, but all I could think while watching them was that they were trying out for the Bad News Bears sequel. Like the West Coast Eagles, the Bad News Bears also came second.
