London has a reputation for rain. This is my third visit to London and I have only seen rain for the first time here on this trip. I associate London with sunburn and sunsets – I’m not sure who started the rumour that London is wet, but kudos to them for punking the planet.
Speaking of sunsets, I have been playing with my camera and the beautiful London sunsets. The shot below is from the balcony of the flat I am staying at. Just over the horizon is Heathrow airport – obviously facing west where the sun sets. There are a few cranes in the skyline – these symbolise construction in modern western civilisation.
I’ve started messing around with stitching together photos to make a big landscape photo. I learnt a lot about this technique with this photo. It turns out the camera has to take the photo from the same place – you can’t move the camera, only rotate it, otherwise, you get differences in perspective (see how I pick up on all these technical things… I might quit my job and become a photographer for National Geographic). The cameraman (me) should also rotate the camera rather than rotate himself. I think this is to stop the cameraman getting dizzy.
Here is my first attempt at stitching together three photos to make an extra wide London sunset. I reckon it is pretty good. You can hardly tell it was actually 3 photos stuck together.
