Once upon a time, a guy and his camel were walking along the sand dunes. It occurred to him that there wasn’t a building that was 830m high anywhere on the planet – so he built one. (You have to stand a long way back to get the top of the building into a photo)
Many of his friends told him he was crazy and that he couldn’t do it. Luckily, he had very deep pockets filled with dirhams and in only 3 weeks – it was built.
The man and his friends partied for days celebrating – during the celebrations, someone asked him what his next project would be. He thought hard about it and announced “I will create a ski field in the sand dunes where people can enjoy the snow”.
With his friends rolling around the sand dunes in fits of laughter, the man checked his pockets which were still full of dirhams. He disappeared and the following day started work on the first Dubai ski field.
The ski slope, complete with a luge track and ski jump was built and the man invited his friends for a weekend of skiing.
The man still has deep pockets full of dirhams and is still finding projects. His next project is the world’s biggest picture frame and soon another building, this time over 1 Km high.
The moral to the story? The word No does not exist in Dubai. If you translate the word “No” in Google Translate from English to Arabic, it means “How much?”
