I don’t normally like big cities, but New York is different. There is something happening on every block and always something to do for everyone. I think it would be impossible to get bored in New York City. Jersey City, however, is a different story. I caught a ferry across the Hudson to see if I could get a photo of the skyline and check out what goes on in Jersey. I found out that not much happens at all – but the view of the Manhattan skyline is good, so I took some photos just before dusk. It would have been good to stay for the sunset and get NYC with all the lights turned on, but maybe next time on a clearer day.
I ended up spending about an hour in Jersey City. Mostly on the wharf taking photos and in a coffee shop close to the ferry terminal to get out of the wind. I am not a coffee snob, I am happy to drink instant (and sometimes I even prefer it), but American coffee is really bad. Americans drink heaps of coffee because tea was given a bad name during the Boston Tea Party, so you would think they would have figured out how to make a good one. Espresso coffee is good, but it is not the norm. I am pretty sure the reason why there are so many flavours of coffee here is to hide how bad it tastes. Even sweetening coffee comes with all sorts of options. Here are the options to sweeten my coffee in a coffee shop in Jersey City.
I tried the Tabasco – but the coffee still tasted pretty bad.
