I almost went to a New York Giants game… They were playing the current champs, the New England Patriots so the game would have been a good one. I couldn’t get there though because my 10 year old second cousin was playing his football semi final for the Generals against the Gators.
The game was fun to watch and ended up being very close. The Generals were in the lead for most of the game, but the Gators got back to within a touchdown with only a few minutes to go and had possession for the last two minutes. The dads on both sides were in meltdown – while the kids were having fun on the field, I am pretty sure there were blood pressure pills being taken up and down the sideline.
In the end, the Generals won 19-13 (ignore the scoreboard, it has been busted for a while apparently) and the Generals are through to next week’s Super Bowl. Some of the Gator kids were crying on the sideline after the game, but it didn’t stop us from going over and laughing at them and wishing them better luck next year.
Meanwhile, the Giants took the lead with a touchdown with 2 minutes to go in the Giants v Patriots game. Tom Brady (Patriots QB) managed to drive them the length of the field for them to take the lead back in the dying seconds and winning the game by 2 points. It would have been a good game to watch, but getting to walk across the field and laugh at the Gators may have been a once in a lifetime opportunity.
