I’ve never been good at art, so when I was asked if I wanted to spend a day drawing temples around Kyoto, I couldn’t think of anything better to improve my pencil skills and what better way to visit Kyoto’s 1600 temples/shrines.
Across the road from the Airbnb house is the Toji temple. We start there with a simple sketch technique I used for most of the day. The Toji Temple has a distinctive tower – here is the view from the front of the house

I found a quiet corner of the temple gardens and spent the next few minutes drawing this

It didn’t turn out too badly, so I tried a few more temples/shrines
I only managed to get to about half of the 1600 temples/shrines – the others will have to wait for another visit when I take the advanced art class and learn how to colour in.
