I was hoping the Catacombs would be good. After aborting my visit the last few days because of a long line, I bit the bullet today and joined the queue. The line is really not much longer than other lines here in Paris. It’s one of the most visited cities on the planet and the result of that is there are lines longer than Disneyland to see the major attractions. It’s just that this queue takes up a city block, which makes it seem longer. If you were going to see the Empire State Building, would you queue up around the block to see it? Now, for those who have been there – if you strectched the line out as far as it would go – would it make it around the block?
Anyway, I’m trying to justify my wait. If you ask me if it was worth it, yes it was. Would I wait that long again? …No.
So for those of you who don’t know – the Catacombs are what happens when you run out of space in a city. If you’ve seen The Castle, you’ll know that kicking people out of their home to build new stuff is a court case waiting to happen. But, if you kick dead people out of their graves – they won’t complain at all. See where this is going??
What do you do with about 6 million dead people? You stack them neatly underground and charge people 10 Euros to look at them.
There are some cool tunnels that you can walk through.

And the locals are always happy to pose for a photo. They are pretty strict on using your flash though… Apparently the last guy who took a photo with a flash was made a permanent feature.
Here’s Johnny
