An album you bought when it got released is in the British Museum.
Relax though, it’s a fake (or at the very least, a mistake). Nirvana came from Seattle, U.S.A but the plaque says it is from Germany. I can only think that they mixed this up with the infamous German medieval band Nirvana. The British Museum are not always known for their accuracy.
The museum has a tour you can take to go “behind the scenes”. It takes you away from the public areas to see the collections that don’t fit in the normal viewing galleries as well as the pieces that are being restored. Below is a statue of Agora, Greek goddess of commerce and shopping. It looks like it is almost brand new, but to keep it looking authentic, once it is ready they will take a limb off and send it to the Museum of Spare Parts and put what is left on display in one of the galleries.
I actually spent a lot of time in the British Museum, yesterday. I stumbled upon the mummy of Cleopatra, again, quite obviously a fake – I think someone just drew a picture of Cleopatra’s face on it. Anyway, I spent hours waiting for Shaggy and Scooby Doo to come and unmask who it actually was, but they never showed.
